Peeks Foot

As it was said on Thursday, the Karma of the team is a bit different without Peek...it was grave news to hear Peeker was gone for some time. Rick is always good for his quick wit, his unending hustle, a goal or two now & then (especially against Mary-Jo) and he sometimes brings the beer. Heal up, Rick see you soon, and remember your older now... take it easy.

CONTRACT HONORED, BOTH SIDES PLEASED

(West Seneca, NY) Last Monday evening, Christopher J. Duquin, owner of Stevens Driving School, officially presented Spiders forward Denny Schlegel with an Easton Synergy Elite Grip, Right/100 Flex/Lidstrom Style hockey stick.

"We at Stevens, 'Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk'," remarked Duquin. "Even though Harry is the one that talked and I'm the one who had to do the walking."

Duquin stated that he was not a part of negotiations brokered by Spiders GM Harry V. Wahl with the young and highly talented Schlegel, however he supports the outcome.

"Denny is one of the most talented players I have ever seen," added Duquin. "We really should be reading about him being drafted 1st overall in the NHL - not to take anything away from that Kane kid. Denny is really that special."

At a U2 concert in Ireland...

At a U2 concert in Ireland, Bono addresses the audience for some quiet. Then he starts to slowly clap his hands.

Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone...."I want you to think about something. Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice from the front of the audience yells out.... "Then stop clapping, you asshole!"

Gotta Love the Irish!

I told you Josh and Richie...

I told you guys ...two voltrons one Car and one Lion version
From Wikipedia
This Voltron team consisted of 15 members, and were divided into three teams of five, known respectively as the Land, Sea and Air Teams. Each team was specialized in gathering data or fighting in their area of expertise. Each team could also combine their vehicles into a bigger machine, with each combined vehicle differing amongst the three teams. These fighters were:
The Aqua Fighter (Sea Team)
The Turbo Terrain Fighter (Land Team)
The Strato Fighter (Air Team)
When necessary, all 15 vehicles combine to form the mighty Voltron. This Voltron in the toyline was referred to as Voltron I (also called the Vehicle Team), possibly due to it being closer to Earth than the more popular Voltron III (or Lion Force Voltron).
Sorry everyone else..

6.7.07: Spiders Skin the Coyotes 6-2

Why did we win tonight??? Was it our desire to beat MJ??? Was it the return of Mike Stayoch???? Solid Defense??? Good goaltending??? Timely scoring???? Josh’s promise of cookies???

NOPE- NOT EVEN CLOSE….
Look out Ron McLean and Don Cherry… we have two new hockey analysts in the house, MJ and Matt Stewart and they broke down the game last night- welcome to Hockey Night in West Seneca (let’s call them the HNWS crew)

Here is a list of why we won but why they did not win as seen through the eyes of the HNWS Crew:

HIGGINS before the game:
(pointing at Denny)- "He is they’re only good player" (Pointing at Stayoch) "he’s not bad" "The rest of them aren’t all that good…" -Thanks Higgins get a shave!

AFTER the game:

MS: "The whole game turned we did not win when there was a turnover by Dustin (field goal kicker guy) in our end. It mattered because Matt Stewart (in his own words) was wide open no one was even close to him." (maybe he needs glasses?) Apparently, Dustin stick handles too much and over-pursues on defense And one goal he got in front of Matt and that’s why we scored.

MS: "we were 1 pass away every rush from smoking their D every time, 1 pass away."

MS: "I had 5 or 8 great scoring attempts tonight, the goalie got lucky on the breakaway and the other times I got slashed or something one time the goalie got lucky and made a save. Their defense always over pursues and their offense gets caught in deep too much. We play great stand-up defense and start the rush back the other way we are all over them and then they get a Shitty breakaway goal. We would have won if insert players names here didn’t go to Thursday in the square and they had like 15 guys! “No one calls any penalties on them (Spiders), I got hacked and slashed all night’. I guess he ignored the time Zav was almost turned out of his shirt trying to get to the point!

MJ: "A guy comes in a slashes me, and I can’t breathe and they don’t call a penalty."

Like I said to Harry- I will forget more than I can remember… My only question is … were they watching the same game as us?

THE QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Randy to MJ: "the way you complain you just make my night longer."

MJ to Randy: "I can make your night longer…and then she talked about doing this or that ..tripping this guy whatever."

Second Referee: "She complains about her night getting longer…maybe if she didn’t let this guy (points to Denny) score 19 times and then complain about it she would get home faster.”

STRIPES REPORT
According to MJ and Matt , the referees only called penalties on the Coyotes.. evidently that 2 minutes you did in the box Chris didn’t count… so but we still will get credit for the PK. According to HNWS, the refs ignored all the trips and slashes we did.

SCORING
We were up 3-0 on goals by Denny Peek and Denny
Then they scored two… I guess we are lucky it wasn’t 12 based on the HNWS crew
Then by some travesty of justice or incredible stroke of luck we scored three more. Two from Denny and 1 on the PP from Fins.

SCRATCHES
Dennis Badding- Bad ankle… what can he do it’s connected to his foot?
Ryan Hartnett- Playing with sticks and balls….little white ones…
All the Zawada’s- Running for their company …or their lives not sure if they set loose the bulls this year for the corporate challenge
Richie- “the accidental barber” Tonge…out on suspension for *ahem* a hair raising incident last week
Dave Chan- follow the comet as per the Website Pearisburg, VA (6.7.07)… if you were wondering where that is ..he can hear the banjo music from West Virginia…

Three Stars of tonight’s game, voted on by members of the media and anyone who says something after the game.

1. Harry Wahl/Chris Duquin- they made a lot of good plays in the offense and defensive zones they had a real solid night on defense…and Harry didn’t yell at anybody or get a penalty… We need to reward good behavior, nice job guys. Especially against THE Matt Stewart…
2a. Tim G- he had an assist but he really gets the star for his hustle and how he fought for every ball (and won most battles) like he was getting paid for it…lifting sticks, bodying guys off, boxing out guys like Tim Duncan and winning face-offs. Tim brought a well rounded game tonight.
2b. Denny- four goals and 1 assist nice game Denny this weeks headwear was definitely did the trick.
3. Farr the Oak tree- I give the nod to our Keeper because he made some really nice saves and played the puck well. The tree stood tall tonight…

NEXT WEEKS GAME
Time: Thursday… check the spiderblogspot for a time I forgot to look and can’t get there from work… PM EST
Opponent: Misfits we fumbled last year early against them…
Place: The Web
TV Coverage: Spider-vision postponed
Scouting Report
Remember the Misfits goalie REALLY gave us trouble last year.

"A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be."
-Wayne Gretzky
